Museo del Novecento | Mappa

online software

A map that reveals invisible links between the works of the Museo del Novecento in Milan.
The museum owns a collection of 300 works, a complex of masterpieces that offers an overview of the Art of the twentieth century. Lots of these works are interconnected thanks to a vast network of links: historical, logical, visual, conceptual, contextual and of subject affinity. Some links are more straightforward than others, which instead seem unusual, invisible and hard to identify considering that the works can’t be directly compared one another.

Concept: colture and new technologies, audience development

  • to prepare for a visit at the museum or to re-examine the works
  • to have an online experience which is interactive and customized
  • to have a fresh perspective and discover the Muse collection
  • multi target (general public, secondary and primary schools, art historians)

The Project
The result is an interactive map with an online selection of the works own by Museo del Novecento. Every work is connected to some other works through different type of links, that guests can experience during their visit. It’s the chance to discover unexpected connections, carry out direct comparisons, deepen our knowledge and create our own links deriving from our sensibility and experience. It’s a new way to experience the collection: connecting with every work, while playing with the map. The various stages of the map can be downloaded as pdf to help guests during their visit at the museum.
